Franklin Mother Eva Goeb got a big surprise when her son and daughter-in-law paid an unexpected visit to her home.
As Eva turned the corner to greet the couple, she got an even bigger surprise when she came face to face with the adopted granddaughter she didn't know she had.
"We hid our secret for almost 10 days before we could fly home," Miranda said in an interview with WTHR news.
Miranda and husband Donny, began their adoption process when they were both stationed in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii with the Air Force. Their adopted daughter Melissa Faith (Lily) was born on December 8 just a few weeks after the couple met Lily’s birth mother for the first time.
"We chose not to tell our families due to so many unknowns," Miranda said. "We wanted to protect our hearts and theirs. We were taking a huge leap of faith. Once the baby Lily was officially placed with us, to become our daughter, we decided that it was not the type of news to be shared over the phone."
The excitement of becoming an instant Grandmother is there for all to see in this video posted on YouTube.
